When Fat Sal’s in Glendale hired Green Polishing Solutions to renovate its cracked, chipped, and uneven concrete floors, we found a serious weight problem. The slab-on-slab concrete, unchanged since building construction in the late 1940s, was too lightweight in quality—too soft and porous— for any polished overlay renovation process. The PSI (pounds per square inch) did not meet the proper requirements for a warranty on the renovation to be possible.

The GPS answer
The obvious resolution to this problem was to demolish the concrete and repour with High PSI material. But this far exceeded Fat Sal’s flooring budget, motivating a renovation based in chemical bonding. Aware of the need to develop precise components to keep any new system from failing, we approached our highly talented concrete experts, who came up with a remarkable solution. We developed a microcement constructed with multiple layers of concrete compatible with each other, followed by the application of specific stains and sealers. The result was an attractive microtop finish that will stand up to high traffic and guarantees longevity.
